As my regular readers may have noticed I do enjoy taking part in photography and travel memes. The latest to have caught my attention is another one for travel bloggers, ‘Capture the Colour’ from TravelSupermarket.com and I was delighted when Heather from Traveller’s Playground nominated me.
If you are a blogger and you’d like to take part, all you need to do is select 5 of your photographs that capture one of each of the following colours – blue, green, yellow, white and red. Pop them in a blog post and then nominate 5 bloggers to take part. You can find the full details of the competition including the superb prizes at TravelSupermarket.com.
Whether or not you are a travel blogger
I hope you will enjoy my ‘Capture the colour’ collection.
The blue skies and sea of Boa Vista
One of the islands of Cape Verde, Boa Vista, has some of the most beautiful beaches and bluest of seas I have seen anywhere and what better place to enjoy the view than at the end of this blue painted pier.
The lush green vegetation of Kerala
India is one of my favourite destinations and I was lucky enough to spend a wonderful few days there floating along the back-waters of Kerala on a rice boat, paradise.
Fading yellow walls
I once spent the afternoon exploring the Cape Verdean town of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente photographing these wonderful old buildings some of which have been abandoned including this beautiful house which even as it crumbles is an elegant reminder of days gone by.
A white winter wonderland
I don’t often get the chance to photograph snow but London at dusk a couple of years ago looked magical covered in a white blanket of snow and I love this image of a couple taking a walk along the River Thames.
More of my photographs of London are on Flickr.
The red turbaned camel herder
Wearing the traditional red turban of the Rajasthani shepherds,
this young man cares for his young charge with clear affection.
And now to pass it on, I nominate…
Suzanne, from The Travel Bunny and my recent travel companion in Italy
Lucy, from On the Luce
Jo, from Restless Jo
Meg, from Meg Travels
Dani and Jess, from Globetrotter Girls

Great photos. Probably one of my favorite things next to travel, is taking pictures.
Thanks Lisa and I couldn’t agree with you more about taking photographs.
I love your fading yellow wall’s image. There is so much detail and so much texture, it is just beautiful!
Thank you so much Alicia. Really appreciate your comment.

Thanks Tricia. I’ve just been looking at yours – lovely! Especially the ‘green’ one which I notice is of Kerala too.
Love the photos–great choices! I especially love the yellow and red selections!
Thanks Jenna, much appreciate your comment and thanks too for re-tweeting it.
I love your selections! Particularly the faded walls and the camel herder – excellent and interesting.

What a stunning collection of photos..I am torn between the Fading Yellow Walls and the wintry white landscape of London! Magnificent Kat!
Thanks so much Jeff! That’s really nice of you to say so. Have you taken part yet?
Hello,
Just to let you know I’ve passed on the 7×7 Link Award to you: http://pindsha21.wordpress.com/2012/07/31/an-award-winning-100th-post/
Love your blog!
Thank you so much! What a lovely surprise. I’m just sorry I don’t get to your blog more often as there are some very interesting posts on there.
Thank you. I understand. I haven’t really been posting as much as I would like either. There’s so much out there to explore though. One link leads to another which leads to another…
Cute camel, cute camel herder. I’ll be there Kat but not in a hurry. Still playing catch up after Wroclaw and touristing Polish family around the north east.
No Hurry, but I think the closing date of the competition is 31st August. No reason why you can’t take part for fun after that (but would be a shame if you missed out.)
Your pictures are wonderful, particularly the London winter wonderland scene. And thank you for nominating me. This will be a fun challenge!
Thanks Meg. Looking forward to seeing your entry. It was fun to do but hard to make a final choice!
Some gorgeous images Kathryn – I love the winter wonderland shot. Thank you for the nomination – I shall enjoy going through my pics and choosing my entries
Thanks Suzanne. Looking forward to your post.
Thanks for the nomination – and lovely photos, the Kerala one is so beautiful especially. I’ve seen a few entries for this competition and been indecisive about what to go with so you’ve spurred me on to actually make a decision!
I’m looking forward to seeing your entry (and yes, it is hard to make that final choice!)
What is it with fading yellow walls or doors that I find so appealing? Great shots!
Thanks Jennifer.
