London at Christmas really is a wonderful place to be! The Christmas lights in town look stunning and shops such as Harrods and Selfridges are famous for their seasonal window displays. Everywhere is hectic but there’s a feeling of celebration in the air! One of my favourite places to visit is Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland or perhaps Covent Garden but there are many wonderful places to explore during the holiday season.
Here is a collection of my photographs of London at Christmas, taken over the last couple of years and with it comes my wish to all you, wherever you are in the world, whatever your religion ‘Seasons Greetings’ – may happiness, good health and peace be yours.
And to all of you who celebrate Christmas… I wish you a very merry Christmas.
If you are going out in London on New Year’s Eve, to help make sure you get home safely, all public transport is FREE from 11.45 pm to 4.30 am on New Year’s Day.

I absolutely love London and go there every year, but I’ve never been during Christmas time. Mostly because it’s cold and so much more expensive then.
Looking at these pics, I would like to experience the ambience once though…

Is it expensive early December I wonder? You could check when the Christmas lights go on and things like the Christmas Market at Hyde Park starts – it really is lovely. Here’s a link to my post on that http://travelwithkat.com/2012/01/03/new-years-eve-at-londons-hyde-park/

The last two shots are just magical! I wouldn’t be able to stand the cold at that time of year though

Thank you. I was so pleased I had my camera with me that day! I was on a first date so I nearly didn’t take it. Luckily he was happy for me to snap away (and we are still together).
I do love warm weather but there is something very special about walks in the snow. And when you get inside you can snuggle up to a real fire with a cup of hot chocolate (or a glass of mulled wine) – you wouldn’t want to do that on a hot day!

It is! There’s no snow as yet this year but it is still wonderful. I left London this morning and am now back home to spend a quiet Chritmas with my family. I’m sure the bright lights of London will be calling me back soon.

Gorgeous shots Kat. Didn’t realize there was so much snow at Christmas in London. The markets look amazing. Those heart shaped cookies are awesome…must be a European thing as I remember them in the Christmas markets in Prague.
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas.

Thanks Anita. I think the Christmas markets you now find throughout England are inspired by ones in other parts of Europe.
The last couple of years we’ve had a lot of snow in southern England compared with normal – see my post ‘Snowed in‘
Have a wonderful Christmas, Kat x
