Thank you to everyone who entered the latest round of Travel Photo Roulette. There were some wonderful images and my favourite changed a number of times. It was hard to pick an outright winner.

Travel Photo Roulette Round 117 – Runners-up

All the following images came so close to winning. In no particular order…

I loved the sun shining through these maple leafs at the Japanese Gardens in Kildare by Orla, Portobello Wild. I can almost feel the warmth and smell the fresh clean air.

A very atmospheric shot by Anna, Penelope & Parker’s Travels. It pulls me into the picture making me wish I was there.

Anna's

The Chain Bridge in Budapest by Adam, Getting Stamped. What can I say. Superb!

The winner

While I love all these and many of the others submitted, I finally decided on the image below as my winner. By Anne, Let Me Be Free, it’s a moody shot of the sun rising over Lake Serene in Western Australia, a magical time of the day indeed. The silhouettes of the trees are very striking and this together with the colours in the sky and reflections create a captivating scene. Congratulations Anne. I’m looking forward to seeing what theme you decide on for the next round of Travel Photo Roulette.

Travel Planning Resources

Travel clothes for women

Check out my guide to all my favourite travel clothes for women.

Book your hotel

Agoda is my preferred hotel search engine. I also use Airbnb ($31 discount) for booking rooms/apartments.

Rent a car

Discover Car Hire is a great site for comparing car prices to find the best deal. They search both local and international rental companies.

Book an experience

When I’m travelling solo, especially to a new city, I use Viator and Get Your Guide to book tours and excursions, in particular, food walking tours or to visit somewhere tricky to get to by public transport.

Protect yourself and your trip

Don’t forget travel insurance! Protect yourself from possible injury, theft, and many other unexpected mishaps while abroad. World Nomads provides travel insurance to travellers from over 140 countries. For UK residence, Alianz Assistance offers insurance for backpackers, as well as annual multi-trip cover and single-trip cover starting from £3.36.
