Are you planning any picnics this summer? I love getting out into the countryside, especially in the South Downs National Park, which is just a 20-minute drive from where I live. I love it so much that I now offer guided walks there. I’ve spent quite a bit of time exploring all the different walking routes in the area to find just the right ones and I’ve recently been taking a backpack cooler with me so that we can stop and have a picnic along the way.
OUTXE offer a great range of products aimed at the outdoor adventurer including rugged waterproof solar chargers to camping lanterns.
OUTXE Backpack Cooler Review
When out walking I’m sure, like me, you prefer to carry everything you might need in a backpack so that your hands are free. When I discovered the OUTEX backpack with cooler combined, I was delighted and having spent the last month testing it out; I can tell you it’s a great picnic backpack. And I’ve got one to giveaway.
As well as for when I’m out walking, I’ve also put mine to good use carrying my shopping home from the supermarket. Not only does it keep everything cool, but it’s also so much easier to carry than plastic bags and more environmentally friendly too.
The OUTXE Insulated Cooler Backpack comes in three sizes. The smallest has a 20L capacity. The one I have has a capacity of 25L, while the largest has a capacity of 28L, that’s space for 30 cans or a picnic for three or four people.
OUTXE 25L Cool Bag Rucksack
Capacity: 25L
Dimensions: 32 x 19 x 43cm
Weight: 800g/28.2oz
Straps: Adjustable padded straps plus breast and waist straps
Outside material: Tear-resistant, durable and lightweight 600D polyester
Liner: Food-grade PVEA waterproof and odour-resistant liner that’s easy to wipe clean
Leakproof: The PVEA lining is seamless so that if frozen food melts, you won’t get any leaks (assuming you keep the bag upright)
Waterproof: It comes with a separate waterproof cover
Large front pocket
Smaller front pocket
Two side pockets (one of which is meshed and suitable for carrying a bottle)
Buckle straps at the bottom for holding a picnic blanket roll
There’s a large front zipped pocket that’s perfect for carrying maps and guidebooks. It’s got a few inner pockets too to help organise smaller items such as your mobile phone.
There’s also a second smaller front zipped pocket where I keep my keys and a few other bits and pieces, as well as two side pockets, one of which is meshed and perfect for keeping a bottle of water. It can hold the largest one I have.
The padded adjustable straps make it comfortable to wear.
Lastly, there are two straps below the bag that are perfect for carrying a picnic blanket roll. They’ve thought of everything!

As Samuel Johnson said “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.” I am in my sixties now and lived in the London suburbs, West and South, most of my life. I still get a thrill every time I make a trip into “town”. There is always something new to see, something new to do. During the Summer months there is nothing nicer than a picnic in one of London’s wonderful parks. The countless green spaces are the “Lungs of London”.
