When I booked to visit Brussels I knew that we’d be spending most of the weekend outside exploring the city and there is nothing more likely to put a dampener on a Winter city break than sore, wet or cold feet.

Sierra Sina Waterproof Snow Boots, cost £100.00 SALE £50

Why I chose these boots

I have found walking boots a far better bet than any wellies or other styles of boots for walking in the snow. By Hi Tec, these stylish snow boots are said to be waterproof, comfy and warm with a great grip for walking on ice.

Here’s how they are described by Millets:

These Women’s Sierra Sina Waterproof Snow Boot by Hi Tec, foffer comfort and protection… Made with a waterproof and suede quilted upper and featuring a hard-wearing, durable sole for excellent grip on icy grounds, these stylish boots will perform their best and keep you fully protected this winter.

Features
  • Waterproof suede and quilted upper – Ensures your feet stay dry and warm.
  • Thinsulate Insulation – Offers thermal warmth from the cold.
  • Ortholite sockliner – Delivers all day comfort when walking.
  • Vibram® outsole – Durable sole for added grip when walking on ice.

They looked and sounded perfect for me!

What I loved

Having walked around Brussels for hours, although it didn’t snow, it did rain heavily, and my feet remained warm and dry throughout. The soles have great grip that I’m sure will be perfect for walking on snowy, slippery surfaces although I’ve not had the chance to try that out yet. Plus I really loved the fur trim which softens the over all look of the boot.

What I didn’t like

After hours of walking my feet really did ache quite a bit.

Conclusion

I really love these boots which are both practical and stylish. I’m sure I’ll get plenty of use out of them, both at home here in the UK and when visiting colder climes. They are well made and should last me a long time making. My only quibble is that the soles could be a little more flexible which I think would make them more comfortable for longer periods of walking.

Update: September 2014

I wore these boots on a walk near the village of Amberley in West Sussex and at one point had to wade through a flooded field. These most are most definitely waterproof. They were brilliant.
