Top 15 Things to See, Do and Eat on Santorini
For many years I had dreamed of going to Santorini, from what I had seen it seemed like the most photogenic island in the world. I too wanted to capture iconic 'picture postcard' images of Santorini, the kind that would look at home in a travel magazine or the glossy...

A memorable night glamping by Lake Bled
Glamping by Lake Bled at the foot of the Julian Alps, in cosy wooden huts, each with their own hot tub. The perfect setting for a romantic break for two and my favourite place to stay in Slovenia.
The Lakes, Mountains and Forests of Slovenia
A land enshrouded in mist and legend, dragons, imps and witches. Lakes that appear in a matter of days only to disappear once again as the seasons change, dragging thwarted lovers deep into the dank bowls of the earth. Majestic mountains climbing high above the clouds. Serene lakes and fairytale castles. Rivers that hurl themselves…

Enjoying the moment – As a blogger whenever I experience something new I can sometimes get a little carried away. It’s all too easy to get wrapped up in getting that stunning photo, not just on my camera but on my phone too for Instagram and Snapchat.

Finding my Nirvana in Mallorca
Earlier this year I spent a wonderful weekend in Mallorca, an island that I love. My visit this time may have only been brief but it was a real treat staying at what I now consider to be the best spa hotel in Mallorca, if not the whole of Spain, Hotel BonSol. A gem of...
The romance of Rome by twilight
Walking through the streets of Rome as the sky displays an ever changing colour palette of pastel blues and pinks makes the city seem even more romantic. Having visited on my own, a couple of years ago, I’m so delighted that this time I am sharing this trip to the eternal city with Neill.
Where and What to Eat and Drink in Lisbon
From the pastries in every pastelaria window to the roasted chestnuts being sold on every other street corner, I discovered a plethora of tasty treats to tempt me in my few short days in Lisbon. To help you find them they are all marked on this map, starting in the north of the Alfama district and the Doce Mila Pastelaria.
Going solo in Lisbon
As people gathered by the waterfront at Terreiro do Paço watching the setting sun I found a perch on a low wall and joined them. A busker was playing a guitar, a beguiling melody drifting through the air. As the sky changed colours through shades of blues, pinks, golds and yellows, I sat there smiling to myself, feeling a sense of freedom and excitement. I’d arrived in Lisbon that afternoon and was wondering what adventures I would have over the next few days. There is something so exhilarating about visiting a new city alone.

A hike to the hidden cave village of Akrilia, Thirassia.
With the bright sunshine dazzling our eyes, at first it is hard to make out the caves in the shadows of the gorge. Unless you are virtually right on top of it , the village of Akrilia is well hidden from view. Our guide, of course, knew exactly which track to follow...

Eating, dancing and chatting with Mama Irini
Walking along the seafront at Kamari on the east coast of Santorini, I hear someone singing, an older voice, soft and sweet. Dressed all in black, as is the tradition for widows, her face shaded from the sunshine by a wide-brimmed straw hat, the singer, Irini, returns...
