Ostriconi beach, in the north-west of Corsica, is sublime. The view looking down over the beach from the road above is simply stunning.
At the viewpoint from where I took this photograph last June, if you turn a little to your right you will see a river gently winding through green pastures with a backdrop of mountains (and of course that wonderful blue sky) until the river reaches the sweeping bay that is Ostriconi beach. It was so lovely I couldn’t stop taking pictures in both directions!
The only way to reach the beach is to hire a car (or bicycle), find the small turning off the N1197 to the beach, then find a parking space which is not easy at the height of summer, climb down the hillside, ford the river, walk across the sands and voilà , you’re there!
There’s no shade on the beach so you will probably want to take a parasol and there are no facilities, so your own water is a must.

Thanks for the tip. I thought the best beach is close to Porto-Vecchio.
There are some stunning beaches around Port-Vecchio but I’m more familiar with the ones in the north of Corsica. Actually there are many beautiful beaches all around Corisca!
Wow, you are soooo lucky, going round the WORLD like this., I sooo wish I could do this too! (Will do when I got the money!)
Hi and thanks for following my blog. Most of the time I’m based in the office but I am very lucky that I get the opportunity to travel when I do. Wish I could do more though!
I wish I could do some!!
I hope you get to do lots of travelling one day. (A job in the travel industry really helps!)
Nice shot of one fine looking beach. 🙂 I’m thinking about Corsica in late September for a little bicycling trip. Have heard great things.
Stunning scenery from the beaches to the mountains, wonderful people, superb food, great weather (whenever I’ve been includng September) – everything you could ask for! 😀
