Menorca is an island of stunning land and seascapes, from the electric blue waters lapping at the feet of the southern cliffs or meadows bursting with colour to the rugged wild beauty of the slate-like rock formations of the S’Albufera des Grau Natural Park.

Reminders of this Spanish island’s past abound forming the densest concentration of prehistoric monuments in Europe. Superb seafood restaurants are equally as common tucked away in back alleys or by pretty harbours or in the case of the island’s one and only nightclub, Cova d’en Xoroi, stuck to a cliff face like a limpet. And there’s no better place to watch the sun go down with a cool glass of Pomada, a refreshing mix of homemade lemonade and the local gin.

I recently spent a fabulous long weekend discovering the islands charms and to give you a glimpse here’s the second video in my new series ‘The World in 60 Seconds‘ featuring Menorca.

Although we were only there just a few short days we packed a lot in but I do wish we could have stayed a little longer as there is a surprising amount to enjoy on such a small island. If you’re a lover of the great outdoors, Menorca in the spring or autumn is perfect for hiking and biking. Food lovers will be blown away by the delicious seafood, washed down by a delicious glass or two of local wine. History buffs will find the island’s past fascinating. I certainly did. And as for the gin, that was a revelation. I didn’t think I liked it but Menorcan gin with lemonade, known as Pomada was wonderful and so refreshing.
